Fonds consists of records generated as part of Action Poetry u201894, a symposium and workshop of the spoken word, held at the Banff Centre between April 11th u2013 29th, 1994. Organized by John Sobol, Action Poetry was Intended to u201cprovide the opportunity for spoken word performers from diverse cultural and aesthetic traditions to establish a dialogue based upon a shared commitment to exploring the word in performance.u201d It included participants from a variety of backgrounds, including poets, rappers, dub poets, monologists, performance artists, street entertainers, storytellers, and stand-up comedians. The Action Poetry fonds contains video and audio recordings of performances and events, proposals and planning documents, internal and external correspondence, biographical information on participants, newspaper clippings, research notes, photographs, and material related to organizing the Nat Christie Poetry Day and Nat Christie Poetry Jam events.
