CONTENT

Contents:
This is a reading of Book 5 of the Martyrology. At multiple points in the reading Nichol re-reads certain verses in order to get them the way in which he wants them read. Side A 0:00 - Introduction discussing the beginnings of this section of the Martyrology as based on the street names in the Annex or Toronto. He also mentions Fred Wah and his notion of "place...rooted in a certain sense of language." 1:05 - Chain 1 from "Book 5 of the Martyrology" 28:00 - At this point in the recording, the quality of the audio decreases and the sound waves become much wider, perhaps indicating that this tape was comprised of different recordings. Side B This recording is a continuation of the former. Nichol finishes reading Chain 5 of Book 5 of the Martyrology and at one point speaks to a recordist. Toward the end of the tape he reads from TTA, Translating Translating Appolinaire. 0:00 - from Chain 1 of Book 5 0:27 - Nichol speaks to recordist 0:38 - Chain 1 of Book 5 7:50 - from Catulsis of TTA. 8:30 - Poem 31 from TTA 9:24 - Catulis 93 9:48 - Catulis 91. Here Nichol also speaks directly to a Fred, presumably Fred Wah. 10:35 - Catulis 111
