On Saturday Stereo Theatre (part of CBC Stereo) hosted by Lorna Jackson; broadcast on the first day of a new year; the time has been extended to ninety minutes in order to present “La Svengali” - Play for radio by Walter Learning and Alden Nowlan based on George du Maurier’s novel Trilby (1894). - John Colicos as Svengali; Elaine Crossley as Trilby; Saul Rubinek as Gecko. - Jackson sets the scene as beginning in Paris in the middle of the last century.
