Carolyne Van Der Meer read selections from her book \"Journeywoman\" (Inanna Publications 2017), including “The Sewing Box,” “The Reconstruction” “At Jim Morrison's Grave, Père Lachaise, Paris,” and “Reunion.” Before the intermission, Louise Campbell played a solo instrumental set. The second half of the evening was devoted to members of SpokenWeb, beginning with poetry by Klara du Plessis who read new pieces entitled “Matinee,” “Trouble: Seurat, The Models, 1888,” “Secular Mouth, Authoritarian Lap,” “The Mountain, A Glass, Me, An Idea,” and “Essay Dwellers” in English and Afrikaans. Katherine McLeod performed a flamenco dance piece to the remixed sounds of archival literary audio recordings. Jason Camlot then closed the evening with a discussion of SpokenWeb’s research interests and a series of original songs, accompanying himself on electric guitar.
